Position Summary

·         Responsible for the successful delivery of one or more, small to medium sized and moderately complex projects.

·         Responsible for the operational aspects including, but not limited to system maintenance, release, planned and unplanned production support.

·         Must understand the system scope and project objectives to achieve project needs through matrix management and collaboration with resource, process and budget management

 

Primary Job Responsibilities

 

·         Develops and executes detailed work plans, schedules, project estimates, resource plans and status reports, issue           management  and risk mitigation. May include interaction with different stakeholders across the enterprise.

·         Works with process management on the coordination and reporting of applicable project level metrics.

·         Through matrix management, is responsible for execution and delivery of projects through adherence to all IT project standards, defining and managing the project through the SDLC (i.e. Project Path) and associated IT processes (i.e. Building Permit, CUPID).

·         Ensures SOX compliance for all project related work.

·         Responsible for deploying projects on time, with quality, within budget, and as per specification (adhering to architectural design), effectively monitoring project risks, employing mitigation strategies where appropriate.

·         Responsible for working with managers across the functional areas (Business Partner, Architecture Services , Development and Business Systems Support Services) to identify the appropriate project resources needed, assembling the project team, assigning individual responsibilities, and developing a schedule to ensure timely completion of project.

·         Ensures that project team roles and project expectations are clearly communicated to all stakeholders including business subject matter experts and end users.

·         Effectively manages the project team, demonstrating the ability to coach, mentor and positively influence others, providing timely feedback to individuals and resource managers.

·         Participate in Business Unit and Chubb-wide project management working groups and activities to stay current on the latest project management solutions and to ensure the proposed project management processes, tools and metrics are aligned to the current and future Corporate IT objectives.

·         Build and maintain an understanding of business processes and products across the Business Unit, establishing strong working relationships with counterparts across the functional areas.

 

Recommended Qualifications

 

·         Bachelor's Degree, Master's Degree or Commensurate Experience

·         5-7 years of experience in technology, business, management or project leadership (experience in the Financial Services industry a plus)

·         Experience managing in a matrix environment

·         Demonstrated experience in project management and/or team leadership with high quality (i.e. proven track record)

·         Results oriented and analytical with the ability to lead others

·         Innovative, flexible and adaptable

·         Good understanding of IT environments/technologies

·         Good written and verbal communication, relationship management, interpersonal, conflict and negotiation skills

·         PMI or PMP certification desired

JOB DESCRIPTION:

This position will support Business Intelligence initiatives.  Reviews business and data requirements and identifies Cognos components (Framework Manager, Report Studio, Metrics Manager, Data Manager, SDK, etc.) and design details for solution implementation.  Manages and executes the implementation, configuration, administration, and development of the Cognos application.  Provides leadership to other Cognos development and support analysts, and translates business requirements to technical design requirements for effective execution.  Authors reports and provides mentoring to other Cognos report authors, supporting communication and education initiatives for the BI Program.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

• Work with business analysts, end users, and data architects to understand and define the information delivery requirements and supporting structure for the Cognos application. 
• Supply prototypes of proposed Cognos solutions to end users for review and approval. 
• Design accurate and user-friendly presentation of enterprise data through Cognos
• Framework Manager packages for access by business users. 
• Identify additional Cognos components (Metrics Manager, Analysis Studio, SDK, etc.) and design requirements to support effective information delivery across the enterprise. 
• Lead the technical support and development efforts for the Cognos toolset, ensuring that defined processes are followed, and that assigned deliverables meet expected timelines.  Manage the Cognos application environments, including capacity planning, tuning, administration, security, etc. 
• Assist in test planning, definition of test conditions, and obtaining test data. 
• Create and manage project plans for application upgrades and technical infrastructure changes or expansion; manage and execute technical efforts to implement these plans. 
• Act as a coach to business analysts with complex reporting requirements, assisting in design and/or troubleshooting efforts. 
• Support and execute education and communication efforts as a collaborative BI Team effort, with specific individual focus on the Cognos toolset. 
• Manage the support desk relationship and status of open support issues with the software vendor. 
• Identify and communicate with other areas involved in the BI process all necessary aspects that may affect project deliverables. 
• Participate in quality management reviews.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Minimum of 2 years experience with Cognos, including Framework Manager, Query Studio, Report Studio, Metrics Manager, Data Manager, Access Manager, and/or SDK strongly required.
• Experience with Cognos 8 toolset strongly preferred. 
• Must have broad understanding of data warehousing, dimensional modeling, and enterprise reporting capabilities.  
• Strong analytical and communication skills are required. 
• Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or an equivalent field of study is required.
• Position requires 4-6 years of experience with progressively increased levels of IT experience.
• Must have demonstrated the ability to work as a member of an enterprise team.  Experience with and understanding of IT Change Management processes.

Need someone who is strong on Teradata BTEQ and SQL.  Will be  coding business rules and doing joins.  Will work on a tax compliance system (so any type of financial background is helpful).  No other Teradata utilities are being used (pretty simple job).
