Job Title : Senior SAP Basis/NetWeaver Consultant
Location : Harrisburg, PA
Duration : 1 Year
Senior SAP Basis/NetWeaver Consultant responsible for administration, performance monitoring, infrastructure/hosting knowledge (AIX & Windows), configuration, and problem troubleshooting and resolution for SAP systems.
Senior SAP Basis/NetWeaver Consultant responsible for administration, performance monitoring, infrastructure/hosting knowledge (AIX & Windows), configuration, and problem troubleshooting and resolution for SAP systems; primarily BW, BW Accelerator, and Solutions Manager, but including ECC, SRM, MDM, Enterprise Portal, and LSO. Experience supporting SAP NetWeaver 7.xx, both AS ABAP and AS Java, is required.
• Projects resource will participate in:
o BW 7.0 to 7.3 and BWA 7.0 to 7.2 upgrades
o Solution Manager service readiness updates (plug-ins, etc)
o BW and Solution Manager daily operations
• SAP Administration skills:
Requires a minimum 5 years of SAP Basis/NetWeaver administration in a mixed (*nix & Windows) environment.
o Provide technical support for installation and configuration of SAP component software; with primary responsibility for BW, BWA, and Solution Manager.
o Supports installation of third party, add-on software.
o Installs system updates (patches, notes, etc.) to the SAP component systems, and third party add-on products; as requested by business functional teams, and approved by project management; or as required to correct problems.
o Establishes and maintains connections between SAP component systems. Identifies and corrects problems with system connectivity.
o Transports system configuration, customization, and program changes from the development environment, to the quality assurance, training, and production environments.
o Configures and monitors various background (batch) jobs, including SAP housekeeping jobs, to ensure the correct operation of the systems.
o Monitors operation, activity, and performance of SAP component systems, Oracle database, third party add-on products, and underlying operating systems (AIX and Windows). This is accomplished by monitoring system logs, operating system statistics, work processes, spools, background jobs, etc.
o Change software configuration of SAP component systems to provide optimal performance.
o Consults and coordinates with Commonwealth management on all aspects of SAP systems operation.
o Occasionally provides 24/7 on-call support of the SAP systems, including problem resolution, and off-hours maintenance. Assists on-call support person as needed.
o Identifies and corrects problems with SAP systems.
o Tunes SAP systems to provide optimal performance.
o Works directly with SAP technical support to resolve functional and technical issues.
• SAP Experience:
Working knowledge of SAP application is required.
o Ability to research SAP Notes and submit SAP customer messages as necessary for corrective action.
o An understanding of the SAP change transport process.
o Working Knowledge of SAP Basis/NetWeaver administration transactions and processes.
o Ability to architect, size, install, and configure new SAP implementations.
o Knowledge in SAP Single Sign-On technology including Kerberos, LDAP, and SAP Logon Tickets.
• General systems development skills:
o Experience in gathering and documenting technical requirements.
o Ability to communicate technical issues in a non-technical way for better customer understanding.
o Strong troubleshooting and problem solving skills.
• Team Participation:
o Ability to communicate, cooperate and coordinate effectively with team members.
o Ability to accept direction and recommendations to ensure effective integration and coordination with existing applications.
• Knowledge transfer:
o Written communication skills to adequately document work.
o Oral communication skills to train staff and inform management of all implemented assignments.
